NEW! IMPROVED LYMNOZYME | ![]() |
LymnoZyme is a wonderful new and improved biological formula of natural occurring bacteria, enzymes and micro nutrients that when introduced into pond water infected with Aeromonas, Pseudomonas or any gram negative or gram positive bacteria, competes with these pathogens for the nutrients in the water that they depend on for their survival while waiting to attack fish. When used as directed, Lymnozyme will reduce the bacterial count of Aeromonas, Pseudomonas or pathogens to such low levels that they will not be a threat to the health of your fish. It is impossible to completely remove the Aeromonas, and Pseudomonas bacteria from the pond water, but Lymnozyme, when used on a regular basis, will keep the Aeromonas, Pseudomonas and other pathogens levels so low they will not affect your fish.
Lymnozyme is not a medication and is safe for your fish when used as directed. Don't forget to turn off your UV light during the treatment program for Lymnozyme. Lymnozyme does not compete with Microbe-Lift due to the fact that the two materials are removing different nutrients from the water. While Microbe-Lift removes nutrients which normally feed algae (ammonia, nitrogen, etc), Lymnozyme removes the nutrients which Aeromonas and Pseudomonas require to survive in your pond (fish waste materials). Because they work to remove different nutrients, Microbe-Lift and LymnoZyme can both be used at the same time.
Lymnozyme now does not have to be refrigerated to extend it's bottled life to beyond one month should be refrigerated for longer life). Lymnozyme will remain viable for one to two years without refrigeration, or longer with refrigeration. Similar to Microbe-Lift, Lymnozyme requires an initial treatment of 3 doses every 3 days, followed by 2 smaller treatments each week for two weeks. Following this initial treatment, you are then on a weekly schedule which maintains your pond in a condition of high beneficial bacteria levels. If you maintain your pond in this condition, you should never have problems with Aeromonas or Pseudomonas type diseases (hole in the side, hole in the head, etc) except for fish brought in with the disease.
1. 20 ml Lymnozyme per 1000 gallons of pond water each three days, for 3 treatments.
2. 20 ml of Lymnozyme per 1000 gallons of pond water once each week, for 2 weeks.
Maintenance Application Rate:
Apply 10 ml of Lymnozyme per 1000 gallons of pond water once each week to maintain water quality conditions.

MELAFIX | ![]() |
![]() |
A wonderful new antibacterial remedy for damaged fins, open wounds and ulcers, fin and tail rot, mouth fungus, etc. Makers of Lymnozyme recommend use of MelaFix in conjunction with Lymnozyme to cure fish diseases and to prevent future diseases. Many of the most common and serious of the diseases common to pond and aquarium fish are cured with MelaFix. In tests, MelaFix was found to cause rapid re-growth and repair of fish tissues and fins in as little as 4 days of treatment. Will not harm the biological filter, but activated carbon will remove MelaFix from water. Turn off UV Sterilizer and Ozone equipment to prevent loss of MelaFix. |
Dosage: Recent wounds, fin damage, or infection: add one teaspoonful (5 ml) per 50 gallons, 1/4 cup per 600 gallons, or one cup per 2400 gallons pond water. Repeat daily for 7 days. Repeat treatment longer as necessary.
Advanced or chronic infection: add two teaspoons (10 ml) of MelaFix for every 50 gallons, 1/4 cupful for every 300 gallons, or one cup per 1200 gallons pond water. Repeat daily for 7 days. Repeat treatment longer as necessary.
This is a must for your medicine chest and recommend keeping it close at hand for treating those hard to cure injuries and diseases.

BULK MEDICATED FISH FOODS | ![]() |
![]() |
While medicated foods will treat many things, they are most useful in treating wounds on the fish, and wounds which have become infected with various bacteria. These flesh eating bacteria can cause ulcers which certainly will cause death of the fish if not treated rapidly. They may be initially seen as a small red or pink spot on the fish which soon grows larger until a hole appears in the body of the fish. It should be noted that this disease can also begin within the fish and eat it's way outward. |
Fish with open wounds or obvious infections can be fed ;all of these foods while pond is medicated with TONIC, ICH CURE WITH FORMALIN, etc. Plan to have some or all of these foods on hand for treating Koi in the spring as they come out of over-wintering. Because it is difficult to predict which of the three will work, keep all on hand as insurance. These foods may be kept in your refrigerator or freezer for long term storage.
05-ROM304 (Top Coated, Floating Pellet) contains Romet 30 for use on fish with infections such as furunculosis caused by Aeromonas infections.05-ROM304 was used successfully against the dreaded "Hole-in the side" a few years back. Feed exclusively for 7 days.
05-TET005 contains tetracycline and is used to treat for infections such as furunculosis and bacterial hemorrhagic septicemia caused by Aeromonas and pseudomonas. Feed exclusively for 10 days.
05-OXOL04 contains Oxolinic acid and has been known to work very well as
a treatment for aeromonas, hole-in-the-side, ulcers, etc. This food is
top-coated and only comes in a small, floating pellet, which makes it ideal
for all fish. Feed exclusively for 10 days.

05-TET005 | 5 lb jug | $49.99 ea. |
05-OXOL04 | 4lb jug | $49.99 ea. |
Fish often receive open wounds when jumping or by way of herons or other animals. They can also become the victims of anchor worms or other parasites which drill into the fish. The open wounds are then susceptible to attack by many common virus, bacteria, fungus, etc. Among the most serious of these are the flesh eating bacterial infections which cause the dreaded "hole-in-the-side", "hole-in-the-head", "fin and tail rot", etc. Fish afflicted by of these are in serious trouble if not treated immediately. They may be initially seen as a small red or pink spot on the fish which soon grows larger until a hole appears in the body of the fish. It should be noted that this disease can also begin within the fish and eat it's way outward. Some fish purchased from Koi breeders can be found to "carry" Ulcer Disease and spread it to your pond infecting your own fish. Note: Some breeders are using dip baths and injections to attempt to immunize their fish with less that satisfactory results. Rather than buy fish from sources who dip their fish (in an attempt to vaccinate their fish), we recommend purchasing your fish from a reliable source with little history of problems. There are three important ways of treating fish infected with serious infected wounds, Ulcer Disease, or treating as a preventative treatment. 1. Treat the fish internally by injection or with medicated food. We feel that the best first action would be to treat the fish by feeding with medicated food. The medicated foods above can be fed while the fish are being treated by other means. Plan to have some or all of these foods on hand for treating koi in the spring as they come out of over wintering. Because it is difficult to predict which of the three will work, keep all three on hand as insurance. These foods may be kept in your refrigerator or freezer for long term storage. At the first sign of ulcers (open wounds which seem to be growing larger), begin feeding the05-OXOL04 food and continue feeding exclusively for 10-14 days. At that time you may wish to continue feeding with the 05-ROM304 food for another 7-10 days. Finally, if necessary, feed 05-TET005 for the final 10-14 days. During the feeding of the medicated food, it would be advisable to treat the pond for parasites if present. 2. Treat the pond's water to treat all fish, sterilize the wounds and water, etc. The Pond Shop recommends addition of Oxolium (oxolinic acid) or Tonic to the pond to aid in healing of open wounds and ulcers. Oxolium is claimed by the manufacturer to cure Ulcers by killing the bacterium responsible for Ulcer Disease. Oxolium is a diluted form of the broad spectrum Antibiotic Oxolinic acid, used for the Control of bacterial diseases. It cures Ulcer Disease, Hemorrhagic Septicemia, Red Spot Disease, etc. Use 10 grams of the Oxolium powder per 100 gallons pond water. Treat once or twice, one week apart as necessary. It is suggested that you treat the pond at the same time as feeding with 05-OXOL04 medicated food. Note: for large ponds, you may want to use Oxolinic acid bulk powder. Use Tonic in the pond water at the rate of 1 ounce for each 800 gallons of pond water. Tonic helps to sterilize and treat wounds, allowing them to heal. Tonic can be used as a preventative or curative medication. It is relatively low cost and works well as a treatment for most minor fish diseases (see below). Salt, with no impurities or additives can be added to the ponds water to aid in healing of wounds and to increase the slime coat. The recommended concentration of salt varies according to how long it is to be left in the pond, plants, etc. Suggested Salt doses range from 1/2 lb/100 gallons to 4 lb/100 gallons of pond or tank water. The higher levels will stunt or kill most plants when exposed for long periods of time. NOTE: In order to prevent burns on the fish, salt must be added to the water as it dissolves and not just dumped into the pond. 3. As a preventative, we recommend use of Oxolium and the 05-OXOL04 medicated food once or twice each year, particularly when new fish are added to your pond. Remember that Oxolium will kill the bacteria in your bio-filter, therefore you may want to time this treatment early in the year before your filter has started working. You may also want to schedule this treatment for the fall to coincide with your bio-filters decline in activity. As an alternative to the more expensive Oxolium, you may use Tonic along with medicated foods as a preventative by treating small wounds and sore before they can become infected and more serious. It also has less effect on the bio-filter as long as directions are followed. NOTE: Turn off Ultra Violet Sterilizers when medicating the pond. UV radiation removes many medications from the water and converts some to other unpredictable by-products. Leave the UV Sterilizer off for at least two days after introduction of any medication to pond. |

Oxolium is the newest antibiotic for the control of bacterial diseases such as those which cause Ulcer disease. Oxolium (oxolinic acid) is a broad spectrum Antibiotic for the Control of bacterial diseases. It cures Ulcer Disease, Hemorrhagic Septicemia, Red Spot Disease, etc. This diluted form of oxolinic acid drug is in the form of a powder and is simply mixed with water and then dispersed into the pond evenly. It is safe for fish and plants, but will kill bacteria and therefore will interfere with bio-filter operation. Treat the pond's water to treat all fish, sterilize the wounds and water, etc. Use 10 grams per 100 gallons pond water. I would recommend use of Oxolium to kill the pathogen causing Ulcer Disease and suggest it be included in your medicine chest.
